Peugeot Expert tow bar wiring removal due to a towbar fitter incorrectly fitting a towbar loom, they wired directly into very low current Peugeot / Citroen PSA wiring loom. Many customers don’t realise when phoning round for the cheapest quote fitters cut corners in order to give a customer the cheapest quote. As such this customer got a repair bill he wasn’t expecting and NOW has to pay for it to be put right with the correct bypass relay designed for this vehicle.
The issue was a burnt out the main earth pin on the lighting loom and the BSI ( Peugeot lighting ECU ) shut down the lighting circuit. This means we had to fully cut out sections of the loom and solder in fresh new cable and disconnect the very poorly wire wrapped connections. As you can see from the photo the job was done to a VERY poor standard.
Once we fully repaired the loom and cloth taped everything back to original OE spec we managed to fully reset the BSI fault codes using diagnostics. The lighting was back online and fully working. This job was urgent due to the vehicle needing to go through MOT as such we didn’t have time to fit a bypass relay for the tow bar electrics ( this will need to be done at a later date ).
