Some customers choose to remove the DPF filter from there vehicle due to many short trips causing it to block, or simply not enough driving time to re-gen the filter meaning it is only going to keep blocking up, Diesel vehicles are designed for long journeys however many owners buy these vehicles and do very little driving, as you can guess it is not a perfect situation. By removing the filter it means there is nothing to get blocked, the only part left inside the DPF emmision unit is the Cat. This reduces the chance of smoke as much as possible.

We use a local garage for the physical removal of the DPF insides, all cutting and welding is done out of sight meaning the MOT garage wouldn’t know the filter has been removed or tampered with when it comes to your MOT test every 12 months. You vehicle MUST be within good health to pass the smoke emmisions test.

The process on DPF removal?

Once the physical filter has been removed and gutted from the vehicle. The vehicles ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is re-calibrated and any DPF related software structures are removed from the vehicles software. This will prevent the vehicle from sensing the missing filter and will prevent future DPF regeneration and DPF related warning lights. This is the most important aspect of the removal process and it is vital that the ECU is reprogrammed correctly or DPF issues will continue. When carrying out this process we can also Remap the ECU for better performance and fuel efficiency at a discounted price, please let us know if you would also like a quotation for this upgrade.

Removing the DPF from your vehicle is not only a cost effective solution but it also boasts the following advantages:

Increased Performance
Increased Efficiency (MPG)
Less Turbo Lag
Reduced Maintenance Costs

Is DPF removal Legal?

By law you are not allowed to tamper with any vehicle Emission systems in the UK, as such this service is designed for off road use.

Will my vehicle smoke?

The idea behind the DPF is to catch soot particles when they leave the engine, hence you don’t see new vehicles black smoking when accelrating. By removing the DPF there is a higher chance of detecting black smoke / soot when accelrating, as such we leave the cat within the DPF to reduce this happening. Most importantly the vehicle MUST be within good health for example no leaking injectors, boost leaks or turbo issues.
